The Alienware AW3926QW steps into the premium gaming monitor category with a 39-inch, 21:9 curved OLED panel that adds welcome vertical space over the more common 34-inch ultra-wides. Built around Tandem RGB Stripe technology, this display targets both cinematic play and competitive gaming with a 5120×2160 (WUHD) resolution running at 165 Hz, plus dedicated eSports modes that reach 330 Hz.
The 1500R curved screen wraps around the user’s peripheral vision, an experience familiar from smaller 21:9 panels but here with a taller image. The monitor supports Adaptive-Sync, FreeSync, and G-Sync compatibility, along with HDR10, Dolby Vision, and VESA DisplayHDR 500 True Black certification. Native color depth is 10-bit across the DCI-P3 gamut, and the rated gray-to-gray response time is 0.03ms.
Brightness, Color, and Pixel Density
The Tandem RGB Stripe approach delivers two notable benefits: higher brightness with lower power draw, and wide gamut color without needing a Quantum Dot layer. In testing, the AW3926QW cleared 500 nits in HDR mode on a 25% window pattern and filled the full screen at more than 300 nits. Alienware rates the panel at 1,300 nits for a 3% window. While its color volume doesn’t quite match a QD display, the review sample covered more than 100% of DCI-P3 and arrived with reference-level color accuracy plus a professional-grade sRGB mode.
Pixel density is another strength. Most 34-inch ultra-wides use a 3440×1440 resolution for 109ppi, comparable to a 27-inch QHD panel. At 39 inches and 5120×2160, the AW3926QW reaches a 4K-level density of 144ppi, a clearly visible improvement. The image is sharp with no fringing or other clarity-reducing artifacts.
Gaming Features and Connectivity
For competitive play, the monitor offers multiple resolution and refresh modes that scale up to 330 Hz in full-screen 25, 27, and 32-inch formats. These can be switched with a single click using a programmable joystick that controls a comprehensive on-screen display. Alienware includes its AlienVision feature with customizable aiming points and sniper aids, along with a frame counter, timer, and screen alignment tools.
Connectivity covers one DisplayPort 2.1, two HDMI 2.1 ports, and a USB-C input. The USB 3.2 hub provides one upstream and three downstream connections (two Type-A and one Type-C), and there is a 3.5mm headphone output. The panel has no built-in speakers. Power consumption is rated at 58W with brightness set to 200 nits.
