The Xiaomi 18 Fold has surfaced in a hands-on leak ahead of its official launch, offering a closer look at a wider, Galaxy Z Fold 8-style form factor. Xiaomi has confirmed the device will debut sometime in September, giving prospective buyers only a short wait before the full reveal.
At an event in China earlier this week, Xiaomi announced that the Xiaomi 18 Fold would be powered by the new XRING 03 chipset, the successor to last year’s XRING 01, the company’s self-designed smartphone processor. The chip appears to trail Apple’s A19 Pro in overall performance, but it represents a significant step up over the previous-generation silicon.
A wider foldable form factor
The most notable detail is the design of the phone itself. Hands-on images posted to Weibo show a device with a shorter and wider profile than most competing foldables. When opened, the Xiaomi 18 Fold reveals a much wider inner display compared to typical foldables, including Xiaomi’s own earlier models.
This wide-format approach mirrors the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and closely resembles the Huawei Pura X View. The three devices share a similar shape, marking a shift toward wider foldables in the current market.
Color and design details
The leaked unit appears in a Dark Cherry red finish, the same shade seen on the Huawei Pura X View. Both colorways draw from rumored hues associated with the iPhone 18 series, underscoring how closely current design trends are converging across brands.
Xiaomi largely teased the XRING 03 chipset during its China event rather than detailing full specifications, leaving performance benchmarks and additional hardware information to be confirmed at the launch. The Xiaomi 18 Fold is officially set to arrive in September.
