The Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 is now receiving Wear OS 7 in beta, marking the first step toward a wider stable release expected later in 2026. The rollout brings the software already available on the newer Galaxy Watch 9 to last year’s flagship wearable lineup.
The update is based on One UI 9 Watch, which ships out of the box on the Galaxy Watch 9. While the changes are not sweeping, they introduce several meaningful additions for owners of older Samsung smartwatches.
Where the Beta Is Available
The beta program has gone live first in Korea, with registration handled through the Samsung Members app as usual. Additional regions are expected to follow, and early signs suggest the United States could gain access soon. Samsung has not confirmed a precise timeline for the broader rollout.
What’s New in One UI 9 Watch
Most of the new features center on health tracking, but the update also enables capabilities like Gemini’s Raise to Talk on older hardware. Samsung has revised its gesture controls, first introduced on the Galaxy Watch 9, and added minor interface refinements throughout the software.
Device support extends beyond the Galaxy Watch 8. Every model newer than the Galaxy Watch 5 is expected to receive the update, though Samsung has not detailed exactly when each device will be covered.
