Ultrahuman, one of the leading challengers to Oura in the smart ring market, has secured fresh capital to build the next generation of AI-powered wearables. The company announced at IFA that it raised EUR 60 million from Qualcomm Ventures, Labcorp, Alpha Wave, Blume and other investors to advance its product roadmap.
While Oura currently dominates the smart ring category, Ultrahuman has spent the past few years positioning itself as a broader health company. Alongside its rings, it now offers complementary products and services, including blood testing and an ambient sleep monitor designed to sit beside a bed. Earlier this year, the company launched the Ring Pro, which delivers improved battery life over previous models and does not require a subscription, unlike some competing devices.
Gesture Control and a New Ring in Development
The partnership with Qualcomm connects Ultrahuman to a wider ecosystem of AI products, many of them wearable, opening the door to interoperability with devices such as smart glasses. According to chief business officer Bhuvan Srinivasan, the Ultrahuman Ring could eventually link to Meta glasses to enable gesture control.
“What we’re really thinking is you could have a ring that helps you control what’s happening in the glasses, but then at the same time at night it measures all your sleep and all your health,” Srinivasan said. “So it’s valuable to you both in the day and the night.”
He noted that this capability will not arrive on the Ring Pro. Instead, the company is developing a new ring model with Qualcomm to support the feature.
Blood Testing and Preventive Health
The collaboration with diagnostics and drug company Labcorp is central to Ultrahuman’s plans. The support helps advance Blood Vision, a preventive blood-testing service the company has been building for the past two years.
“The idea behind Blood Vision is really to bring together all the things you cannot measure on a wearable, but you can measure in your blood, which is also very valuable,” Srinivasan said. “And now we really want to roll that out and make preventive health blood testing much more mainstream.”
Ultrahuman intends to invest the new funding across sensing, materials, electrical engineering, algorithms, physiology and clinical science. The goal is to place its ring at the center of an ecosystem where body data drives more insightful and actionable health guidance, positioning the company as a bridge between personal health, AI agents and other AI-equipped devices.
