The Theragun Sense (2nd Gen) from Therabody is a wellness-focused massage gun built for everyday aches, muscle tension, soreness, and relaxation. Priced at EUR 257, it positions itself as a gentle massaging and relaxation tool rather than a heavy-duty recovery device, making it a practical pick for casual users who want relief without deep-tissue intensity.
Shoppers seeking a stronger, deep-tissue experience may prefer the Theragun PRO or Prime, which offer features like heated therapy. But for daily use, the Theragun Sense covers the essentials without the bulk or added functions that many people won’t need.
Guided routines take the guesswork out
One of the device’s standout features is its collection of built-in visually guided routines. The Theragun Sense ships with four routines, and users can access more through the Therabody app, syncing their favorites to the device over Bluetooth.
An LCD screen walks you through each routine step by step. After selecting a program, the screen indicates exactly where to place the massage gun, how long to spend on each area, and how much pressure to apply. This removes much of the uncertainty for anyone unsure how to use a massage gun beyond pointing it at a sore muscle.
Available routines include a six-minute “Sleep” program that functions as a quick full-body massage before bed, along with options like “Pre-Walk Warm-up,” “Desk Relief,” and “Lower Back Recovery.”
Speeds, weight, and AI personalization
The Theragun Sense offers five speeds to fine-tune the experience, ranging from a relaxing touch to moderate pressure or a deeper tension release. That flexibility lets users adjust intensity depending on how sore they feel on a given day.
The lightweight design makes it easy to hold and reach hard-to-access spots on the back and shoulders. A relatively quiet motor means it can be used while watching TV or relaxing without becoming a distraction.
For added personalization, the Therabody app includes Coach, an AI feature that generates recovery recommendations based on your goals and activity. Coach can suggest which body area to target, which settings or attachments to use, and when to schedule a recovery session during the day.
What’s in the box
The Theragun Sense comes with a USB-C charging cable, a travel pouch, and two attachments: the Standard Ball and the Dampener, the latter designed to target knots and tender areas. A separate “Supersoft” attachment for extra sensitivity is available for EUR 30.
