The Xiaomi 18 Fold has been officially unveiled, making Xiaomi the newest brand to embrace the wide foldable form factor. The device received its first official showing at IFA 2026 in Berlin, ahead of a launch scheduled for next week.
The handset initially surfaced in a hands-on leak last month, but Xiaomi is now showcasing the finished hardware to the public. Those who saw it in person noted its resemblance to Apple’s upcoming foldable iPhone, as well as to the already-available Galaxy Z Fold 8.
What Xiaomi Confirmed at IFA 2026
Xiaomi shared limited technical details during the event, reiterating that the foldable will run on the Xiaomi ORING 3 chipset. The company also confirmed that the phone will get an official launch in China on September 7.
Beyond the chipset and release date, Xiaomi held back on specifics, keeping much of the spec sheet under wraps until the formal debut.
Display and Design Details
According to reported specifications, the outer display measures 5.38 inches, while the inner display comes in at 7.58 inches. The device adopts a more rounded form factor compared to the Galaxy Z Fold 8, giving it a distinct feel in the hand.
The wide aspect ratio places the Xiaomi 18 Fold in line with the current direction of the foldable market, where several manufacturers are moving toward shorter, wider designs that behave more like a standard phone when closed. The official launch in China is set for September 7.
