The XGIMI Aura 3 Series made its debut at IFA 2026, expanding the company’s ultra-short-throw (UST) projector lineup with two models: the Aura 3 Pro and the Aura 3 Max. Both run Google TV out of the box and are billed as the world’s first 4K UST projectors capable of 4K output at 120Hz, targeting both home theater enthusiasts and gamers who want high refresh rates on very large screens.
Brightness, color, and image quality
Each model in the lineup pairs an RGB Triple Laser light engine with XGIMI’s Dynamic Dual Iris optical system. That dual-iris design manages light output to reach a native contrast ratio of up to 8,000:1, complemented by Dynamic Black Enhancement.
The flagship Aura 3 Max reaches up to 5,700 ISO lumens and covers 110% of the BT.2020 color gamut. With an ultra-short throw ratio of 0.163:1, it can display a 120-inch image from roughly eight inches away from a wall, and it supports screen sizes up to 200 inches.
The series supports a broad set of HDR formats, including Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HDR10, HLG, and IMAX Enhanced. Additional features include Filmmaker Mode, dynamic tone mapping, and Anti-Rainbow Effect (Anti-RBE) technology. The lineup also handles 3D content and ships with two pairs of 3D glasses.
Gaming performance and software
To output 4K resolution at 120Hz, XGIMI runs two DLPC 8545 display controllers in parallel. High-frame-rate gaming is enabled through HDMI 2.1 inputs, with support for Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM), AMD FreeSync Premium, and Dolby Vision Gaming. XGIMI claims input latency can drop as low as 1ms depending on the mode.
On the software side, the Aura 3 Series ships with Google TV and offers native access to major streaming services such as Netflix, Prime Video, and YouTube, along with Google Cast integration. Audio comes from an integrated 80-watt Harman Kardon speaker system supporting Dolby Atmos and DTS Virtual:X. When idle, an “XGIMI WALL” ambient feature displays curated wallpapers and digital art.
Pricing and availability
Pre-orders for the Aura 3 Series are open now through XGIMI’s official store. Buyers can reserve a unit with a EUR 43 deposit to secure an additional EUR 172 discount. The lineup officially launches via Kickstarter on October 20, 2026. Kickstarter exclusive pricing starts at EUR 1,892 for the Aura 3 Pro and EUR 2,064 for the flagship Aura 3 Max.
