What the Durability Test Revealed

The outer display held up well against scratches, while the inner screen scratched easily, consistent with the softer surface used on foldable panels. Dust entering the hinge produced unsettling crunching sounds during the evaluation.
The bend test is where the device diverged from its predecessors. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is the first of Samsung’s foldables to fail this portion of the test, aside from the very limited Galaxy Z TriFold. The failure was not dramatic. Both the hinge and the frame remained intact throughout the bend, but the inner display stopped working.

The larger, non-Ultra model endured the pressure without failing, while the thinner Ultra variant did not.
