The new Apple TV 4K is finally on the horizon, and multiple signals suggest an unveiling could arrive soon, possibly at the September 9 event. Originally expected last fall, the refreshed streaming box appears to have waited for Siri AI to reach readiness. Here’s what the latest reporting points to.
An updated Siri Remote and new wireless connectivity
Apple reportedly has an updated Siri Remote ready to ship alongside the new Apple TV 4K. Code found in a build of macOS 26.7 appears to confirm the accessory’s existence, and earlier reporting from Mark Gurman described a possible “tweaked Apple TV remote” for the new hardware. No major overhaul seems likely, though a second-generation Ultra Wideband chip could enable Precision Finding.
Connectivity is also set for an upgrade. The N1 wireless chip that first appeared in iPhone 17 is rumored to make its way into the new Apple TV 4K. That addition would bring Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread networking support. By comparison, the current four-year-old model offers only Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.
A more powerful A-class chip
The current Apple TV runs on the A15 Bionic, a chip that first debuted in 2021. The new model is expected to deliver a meaningful performance boost with a fresh A-class chip capable of powering AI features.
Earlier rumors pointed to an A17 Pro or A18 chip, but that reporting largely predated the Siri AI era. It would not be surprising if Apple opted for a more powerful A19 or A20 chip in the new hardware to support its expanded feature set.
Siri AI and Apple Intelligence features
Siri AI is expected to anchor the marketing push for the new Apple TV, along with other new Home products. Apple has not confirmed the new assistant for either Apple TV 4K or HomePod, but mounting evidence indicates tvOS 27 will include Siri AI, likely limited to new hardware.
Additional Apple Intelligence features may also arrive, including an improved search experience. Together, these upgrades would mark the most significant update to the Apple TV 4K in years, spanning the processor, wireless capabilities, remote, and software.
The current Apple TV 4K hardware is four years old, making the anticipated refresh a substantial generational leap across performance and connectivity.
