New details about the iPhone Ultra have surfaced just one week ahead of its expected introduction, according to reporting from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. The latest leaks cover the foldable device’s specifications, multitasking capabilities, launch timing, and pricing.
iPhone Ultra Specs and Design
One lingering question about the iPhone Ultra centered on MagSafe support, and Gurman confirmed the technology will be included on the foldable phone. He noted that all indications point to MagSafe being present on the device.
On the hardware side, the iPhone Ultra is expected to feature a 5.5-inch cover display and a 7.8-inch inner display. The device will reportedly run on Apple’s latest Pro chip and its latest Apple modem.
Two design elements drew particular attention: a rumored crease-less display and a liquid metal hinge. According to Gurman, the crease isn’t entirely eliminated, but it should be comparable to the newest Samsung foldables and possibly better, thanks to the more durable hinge. He added that Apple aimed to make the foldable as durable, or nearly as durable, as any other iPhone, spending considerable time on that goal.
Multitasking in iOS 27
Multitasking is another focus area for the iPhone Ultra. Gurman previously reported that iOS 27 will enable iPad-style app layouts and side-by-side app multitasking. He now adds that drag and drop will work across multiple on-screen apps, allowing users to move data quickly from one app to another.
Launch Timing and Pricing
On the question of availability, Gurman offered encouraging expectations. He said he would be very surprised if the foldable phone did not launch alongside the new Pro models, or very close to that date. That could mean a dual launch on the same day or a release within weeks. He does not believe rumors of a late October or November launch, major delays, or supply chain problems will materialize.
When asked about cost, Gurman reiterated his previous expectation of a EUR 1,726+ starting price for the iPhone Ultra.
