Apple TV is opening the fall season with a stacked slate of premieres this September, spanning action comedy, espionage thrillers, and star-driven television. The month features a new Ryan Reynolds movie, the sixth season of the acclaimed spy series Slow Horses, and a fresh comedy starring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson. Here is a rundown of what is arriving on the streaming service throughout the month.
Movies and Scripted Series Coming in September
Kicking things off on September 4 is Mayday, an action-comedy that pairs Ryan Reynolds with Kenneth Branagh. Reynolds plays hotshot U.S. Navy pilot Lieutenant Troy “Assassin” Kelly, who is sent on a top-secret Cold War mission into Russian territory. When the operation collapses, Kelly is left stranded behind enemy lines, only to be discovered by Nikolai Ustinov (Branagh), a gruff ex-KGB agent with a fondness for American culture. The two form an unlikely alliance in this buddy comedy that reworks the spy thriller formula.
On September 9, the thriller series Last Seen arrives. Patrick Brammall stars as police detective Ian Ridley, whose life unraveled 11 years earlier when his young daughter, Maggie, vanished. Now working as a police dispatcher, Ridley receives a distress call from a teenage girl he believes is Maggie and sets out to reunite his fractured family at any cost.
The espionage drama Slow Horses returns for its sixth season on September 16. The darkly comedic series follows a group of British intelligence agents relegated to a dead-end MI5 department because of their career-ending errors. Academy Award winner Gary Oldman returns as their brilliant but abrasive leader, Jackson Lamb.
Arriving September 23, the comedy series Brothers stars Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson as fictionalized versions of themselves. Their lifelong friendship is upended when they discover they might actually be brothers. After Woody’s daughter’s wedding falls apart, he moves his family to Matthew’s ranch in Austin. The visit unravels when Matthew’s mother, Ma Mac (Holland Taylor), accidentally reveals a long-buried secret, all while Matthew weighs a potential run for Governor of Texas.
Docuseries Return Confirmed
Apple has also confirmed the second season of Knife Edge: Chasing Michelin Stars, though a specific premiere date within September has not yet been announced. The docuseries follows some of the world’s top chefs as they pursue the ultimate culinary recognition: a Michelin Star, capturing both the high points and the crushing setbacks of that quest.
Brothers is set to premiere on Apple TV on September 23, 2026.
