Sonos has revealed its biggest slate of new products in years, taking the wraps off two audio devices and a major software overhaul at an event in New York City. The lineup includes the Sonos Beam Ultra soundbar, the Sonos Ace Ultra headphones, and a substantial update to the company’s audio operating system called Sonos 27.
The launch marks the most significant single announcement from the company since 2024, when a troubled app rollout frustrated customers and forced Sonos into an extended period of damage control. Details on the two new hardware products had already surfaced earlier, appearing in an FCC filing in early August ahead of the official reveal.
New Headphones and Soundbar
The Sonos Ace Ultra headphones are positioned as a refined take on the original Ace, designed to fit more naturally into the broader Sonos ecosystem. Alongside them, the company introduced the Beam Ultra, an updated soundbar aimed at home theater and multi-room audio setups.
Both products build on Sonos’ existing lineup and were confirmed at the New York event after their specifications first leaked through regulatory documentation.
Sonos 27 and AI Integration
Software sits at the center of the announcement. With Sonos 27, the company is leaning heavily into artificial intelligence across its platform. A key part of that effort is a new in-house voice assistant, also referred to as Sonos 27, which the company built to handle music playback and system control.
The voice assistant is arriving as an early feature within the updated operating system. The emphasis on AI and improved software signals a shift in direction as Sonos works to rebuild trust following the reception of its 2024 app.
