The xTool F2 Ultra UV laser engraver takes a different approach than most machines in its category. While conventional lasers mark, engrave, and cut by burning material, a UV laser relies on a shorter 355 nm wavelength that triggers a photochemical reaction. That process breaks material down rather than setting it on fire, which is why these systems are often described as “cold” lasers. Even so, this is not a machine you’d want to reach into while it’s running.
The advantage of that cold process shows up in the results. The UV laser produces exceptionally clean cuts and engravings in wood and plastic that other laser types can’t match. It can also etch glass and crystal, and it’s capable of engraving the inside of glass to create striking three-dimensional effects.
How the Galvo System Performs
The F2 Ultra UV is a galvo laser, meaning the laser itself stays stationary while galvanometer mirrors steer the beam. That design makes it very fast, with beam movement rated at 15,000 mm/s. Many galvo lasers struggle to hold focus as the beam moves away from the center point, but across its 200 x 200 mm work area, this machine maintains quality even at the edges. Its inner engraving size measures 70 x 70 mm.
The machine is part of a broader xTool lineup that can be confusing to sort through. The F2 is a portable standard diode laser, the F1 Ultra pairs a diode with a fiber laser for metal etching, and the F2 Ultra is a 60W MOPA with a 40W diode. The UV model shares that naming despite its distinct technology.
Pricing, Specifications, and What’s Included
The xTool F2 Ultra UV starts at EUR 3,707. It handles nearly every material except metal and is the only laser in this class that can work with crystal, making it a versatile option for both home and small business use. Pre-orders launched on November 14, 2025.
Key specifications include a machine footprint of 294 mm x 429 mm x 520 mm (11.57″ x 16.88″ x 20.5″) and a weight of 22.5 kg (49.6 lbs). The laser is a 355 nm UV type rated at 5W. Engravable materials include glass, crystal, acrylic, wood, metal, leather, plastic, rubber, silicone, and ceramic, while cuttable materials cover glass, plastics, fabric, leather, non-transparent acrylic, paper, and wood. Connectivity options are USB and Wi-Fi/IP, with control handled through a corded touchscreen and a physical start button.
The unit ships fully assembled with the surface engraving lens installed. The inner engraving lens and riser arrive in a reusable foam box, along with a slatted cutting plate, corded touchscreen, equipment safety key, surface engraving material pack, tool kit, cables, and printed quick start and safety guides. The review configuration also included optional button and pedal switches, a rotary attachment, the xTool SafetyPro AP2 fume extractor, and a range of glass and crystal test materials. The included cutting platform comes with flat, slatted panel, and riser components.
