The Nvidia RTX 5090 now costs at least EUR 4,312 in North America, a staggering jump for a graphics card that debuted at a EUR 1,724 MSRP during CES just over a year ago. That amounts to roughly a 2.5x increase in less than two years, and the rest of the RTX 50-series lineup is following the same trajectory as the AI boom continues to strain component supplies.
RTX 5090 pricing more than doubles in a year
In the United States, the cheapest RTX 5090 currently available is the Zotac Solid OC, listed at EUR 4,311 on Newegg. The bundle includes a EUR 52 game and a EUR 125 power supply, but buyers are still paying EUR 4,312 for a card that sold for less than half that amount (EUR 1,940) exactly one year ago. Higher-tier options climb even further: the ROG Astral 4X OC now sells for EUR 5,174, up from roughly EUR 2,898 last year. That represents nearly a 2x increase over twelve months and about 3x the original MSRP, though that particular model is a premium novelty variant.
European buyers face similar conditions. In Germany, the most affordable RTX 5090 is the MSI Gaming Trio OC at 4,850 euros (about EUR 4,846), more than double the 2,249 euros (EUR 2,242) it commanded a year ago. The same card was roughly 800 euros (EUR 799) cheaper just last month. The ROG Astral 4X OC currently sells for 5,300 euros (EUR 5,298), compared with 2,870 euros (EUR 2,868) at the same time last year.
The entire Blackwell lineup sees increases
The price surge extends well beyond the flagship. Other popular Blackwell GPUs, including the RTX 5080, RTX 5070 Ti, RTX 5060 Ti 16GB, and RTX 5060, have all climbed. After the 5090, the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB has been hit hardest with a 77% jump, now selling for EUR 656 against a EUR 370 MSRP. The RTX 5080 is 55% more expensive at EUR 1,336 versus its EUR 862 launch price, while both the RTX 5060 (EUR 258 to EUR 386) and RTX 5070 Ti (EUR 646 to EUR 965) now cost about 50% more than at release.
Even the entry-level cards are affected. The RTX 5050, the least impacted model, still rose 20% from a EUR 215 MSRP to EUR 258. The often-overlooked RTX 5060 Ti 8GB is 32% higher at EUR 431, up from EUR 328. Across the full Blackwell family, the average price increase is roughly 60%, or 1.6x above MSRP.
Component shortages drive the spike
As with SSDs and system memory, GPU pricing is being squeezed by shrinking supplies of critical components that are being redirected to enterprise customers powering large-scale AI buildouts. RAM prices have jumped 500% over the past 12 months, and SSD costs have followed a similar path. The combined effect is making DIY PC building increasingly difficult, with the base RTX 5090 now starting at EUR 4,312 in North America.
