Minisforum unveiled two new devices built for running AI models locally at IFA 2026 in Berlin, Germany. The first is the AI Agent NAS N5 Max-P495, an updated version of the company’s flagship network-attached storage unit that ships with OpenClaw pre-installed. The second is the MS-S1 Max-P495, a mini-PC engineered for AI computing.
Both systems are powered by AMD’s Ryzen AI Max+ Pro 495 processor with an integrated Radeon 8065S GPU, delivering up to 131 TOPS of AI performance. Each device can be configured with up to 192GB of unified memory, of which as much as 160GB can be allocated as graphics memory.
AI Agent NAS N5 Max-P495 Targets Private, On-Device Workloads
The AI Agent NAS N5 Max-P495 supports up to 200TB of local storage, making it well suited for keeping large data sets on-premises. Paired with the Ryzen AI Max+ Pro 495, it can run AI agents such as OpenClaw or Hermes Agent directly on the storage platform. Because all data stays on the machine, the setup offers stronger privacy while reducing latency for both users and their AI agents.
Minisforum positions the N5 Max-P495 as a centralized backend for data, models, knowledge, and long-running AI workloads. The company notes it can also help control AI inference costs, an increasingly relevant factor given that agentic AI can consume roughly 1,000 times more tokens than standard AI applications.
MS-S1 Max-P495 Serves Professional and Creative Workflows
For demanding professional and creative work, the MS-S1 Max-P495 updates the earlier MS-S1 mini-PC, which previously used an AMD Ryzen AI Max 395+ APU. The refreshed model adopts the Ryzen AI Max+ Pro 495, whose dedicated NPU contributes 55 TOPS toward the total 131 TOPS of AI performance. It supports a range of models from labs including Gemma, OpenAI, and Qwen.
The mini-PC is designed to scale easily, with four units deployable in a single 2U rack. That positions it as an alternative to the Mac mini and Mac Studio, both of which have faced tight supply amid the surge in local AI demand.
Beyond AI, the MS-S1 Max-P495 targets users who want a compact system without sacrificing performance. With up to 192GB of unified memory, it can handle 3D rendering, video editing, and computational fluid dynamics. The 8060S GPU on the prior Ryzen AI Max 395+ handled 1080p gaming capably, suggesting the newer model should manage gaming workloads as well.
Both the N5 Max-P495 and MS-S1 Max-P495 are aimed at users experimenting with AI who need hardware capable of running models locally. Minisforum has not yet announced pricing or availability for either device. Both are on display at IFA 2026, which runs from September 4 to 8, 2026, in Berlin.
