G.Skill has expanded its memory lineup with the new Flare X5X series of DDR5 kits, built specifically for AMD Ryzen systems. The Flare X5X uses AMD’s EXPO ULL (Ultra Low Latency) technology, which applies optimized memory subtimings to squeeze extra performance out of Ryzen processors, particularly chips that lack 3D V-Cache.

The Flare series has traditionally targeted AMD platforms, sitting alongside G.Skill’s Trident and Ripjaws families. Like the earlier Trident Z5 NeoX, the Flare X5X leans on EXPO ULL to tighten timings without changing the headline specifications. The company already offers a wide range of DDR5-6000 kits, along with variants tuned for either Intel or AMD systems.

Flare X5X Specifications and Timings

The Flare X5X debuts at DDR5-6000, widely regarded as the sweet spot for Ryzen processors. The initial release is a 32GB kit made up of two 16GB modules. On paper, it can be hard to distinguish from the standard Flare X5, since both list primary timings of 36-36-36-96 at 1.35V. The real difference lies in the tighter subtimings enabled by AMD EXPO ULL.

Those primary timings mean the Flare X5X is not the most aggressive EXPO ULL kit in G.Skill’s catalog. The company already sells more optimized configurations, including 26-36-36-32 at 1.45V, 28-36-36-32 at 1.40V, and 30-38-38-32 at 1.35V. It is plausible that G.Skill will introduce similarly tuned versions of the Flare X5X in the future.

For reference, G.Skill’s comparable DDR5-6000 32GB (2x16GB) kits are currently priced as follows: the Trident Z5 NeoX RGB at EUR 457, the Trident Z5 RGB at EUR 448, the Trident Z5 Neo RGB at EUR 440, the Ripjaws M5 RGB and Ripjaws M5 Neo RGB at EUR 440 each, and the Ripjaws S5 and Flare X5 at EUR 431 each. All of these kits carry a lifetime warranty.

Pricing Remains Unconfirmed

The biggest unknown is cost. G.Skill has not disclosed pricing for the Flare X5X DDR5-6000 CL36 32GB (2x16GB) kit. When AMD first introduced EXPO ULL, it stated that these kits would be priced similarly to standard EXPO memory. In practice, ongoing memory shortages and leftover stock created a significant price gap between ULL and regular kits.

That gap has narrowed over the past several months. Pricing for AMD EXPO ULL memory has stabilized and is now moving closer to what AMD originally anticipated. All Flare X5X kits ship with a lifetime warranty, and the memory launches with primary timings of 36-36-36-96 at 1.35V.
