Gemini Intelligence now has clearer hardware requirements, and Google has published its first list of devices running Gemini Nano 4. Following the launch of the Pixel 11 series, the company updated its developer documentation to reflect the newest on-device AI model.
The first devices tagged as “nano-v4” arrived in recent weeks from both Google and Samsung. On the Google side, the lineup includes the Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL, and Pixel 11 Pro Fold. Samsung’s entries are the Galaxy Z Flip8, Galaxy Z Fold8, and Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra.
What Gemini Intelligence Requires
While the updated documentation is aimed primarily at app developers, there is movement on the consumer side as well. Google recently revised the list of required specifications on android.com, restoring the “Nano v3 or greater” line. That mention first appeared in May after The Android Show: I/O Edition, but was later removed before returning.
According to Google, Gemini Intelligence features are only available on Android devices with the most advanced capabilities. The requirements call for on-device AI support through AI Core plus Gemini Nano v3 or newer, at least 12GB of RAM, and a qualified flagship-class system on chip. Devices must also deliver the latest media performance, including spatial audio, low light, and HDR, along with annual gaming updates.
Additional standards cover quality and long-term support. Phones must meet service-level objectives such as crash rate targets in 2026, with further enforcement in 2027, and pass a test suite on A17 or later at launch. On the software side, Google lists five OS upgrades, Android Virtualization Framework, and pKVM, plus six years of security support with quarterly updates.
Where the Features Are Now
Gemini Intelligence officially launched last month on Samsung’s latest foldables, bringing expanded task automation that now supports more than 40 apps. On the Pixel 11 series, Google debuted Rambler and Proactive Assistance, the feature previously known as Magic Cue.
Older Flagships Still in Question
It remains unclear whether the Pixel 10 or Galaxy S26 series will officially receive Gemini Intelligence, while users continue to wait for Create My Widget. Google has said the new features would roll out in waves rather than all at once. The current requirement of Nano v3 or greater suggests eligibility will hinge on the on-device AI model a phone can run.
