Apple has released a fix for a frustrating bug in its TestFlight app that first appeared alongside a search feature update earlier this year. The latest release, TestFlight version 4.3.1, resolves a regression that affected users managing large libraries of pre-release software.
The trouble began in July, when Apple pushed out TestFlight version 4.3 for iPhone, iPad, Mac, and other platforms. That update added a search field designed to help testers quickly locate specific apps. While the search tool was widely seen as a useful addition, the same release introduced a display problem that disrupted how betas were organized.
What the TestFlight Bug Changed
Before the update, TestFlight listed betas in reverse chronological order, making it easy for users to find their most recently added apps. After version 4.3 rolled out, expired betas began appearing scattered among active betas in an alphabetical list. The change also expanded the expired beta list to include every beta a user had ever joined.
For some testers, that meant an enormous number of entries. One affected user reported a rough count of nearly 800 app listings, which pushed active betas far down the list. Although the new search field helped locate specific apps, scrolling through the full catalog became impractical.
Weeks of Waiting for a Fix
The issue drew attention from developers and writers who rely heavily on TestFlight. The sort order remained unchanged for more than a month, leaving affected users to deal with the cluttered list on a daily basis. Some began to doubt the problem would be addressed at all.
Apple finally updated the app more than a month after the bug was first flagged. The release notes for the new version point only to bug fixes, but the update does correct the sorting behavior that caused the frustration.

Users experiencing the regression can resolve it by installing TestFlight version 4.3.1. The update is available across the platforms that support TestFlight, including iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Once installed, it restores the expected organization of beta apps that was disrupted by the earlier 4.3 release.
The fix arrives roughly two months after the original search feature update shipped in July. TestFlight remains Apple’s primary tool for distributing pre-release apps to testers, and version 4.3.1 is now the current release addressing the sorting problem.
