The Luffu Link wearable expands the focus of health tracking beyond the individual, aiming to monitor and coordinate care for an entire family. While fitness trackers and smart rings have traditionally gathered data at a personal level, Luffu positions itself as an AI-powered family care system.
Launched in February by Fitbit co-founders James Park and Eric Friedman, Luffu began as an app where family members could log health information, including medications, diet, doctors’ appointments, vaccine records and symptoms. The app is currently in public beta, with broader availability across the United States planned for later this year.
How Luffu Link connects the family
The Luffu Link is a screenless health and safety band that operates over 4G LTE, so a nearby phone is not required to contact chosen contacts for help or to use features such as voice logging for medications, meals, mood, symptoms, reminders and notes. Built-in GPS lets users share their location or send a check-in to family members.
For personal health, the band captures data on sleep, activity, heart rate variability, resting heart rate, calories burned and breathing rate. AI then learns patterns from this information and alerts users to any changes.
The device features a single button. Pressing and holding it allows voice logging, while pressing twice sends a check-in to selected family members. Logged health information is organised by AI and added to the shared Luffu app, where users can also create a profile for a pet to record medications, meals and vet visits. Families decide what information is shared and with whom.
Pricing, specifications and availability
Luffu is building its ecosystem around three locations: the phone, the wrist and the home. Those in the United States can now preorder the Luffu Link on the Luffu website for around £195, which includes beta access to the app, a quick charger, and large and small silicone bands. It is available in halo gold, sterling blue and onyx black, and is expected to ship in early 2027. After launch, the price is expected to rise to around £235.
Designed to resemble jewellery, the band has a slim metal core with a silicone strap. It is water-resistant up to 50 metres, offers battery life of up to five days, charges in about one hour, and comes with a one-year limited warranty. It is compatible with Android 14 or later and iOS 18 or later.
LTE data service is included, with no separate carrier plan required. However, using Luffu requires a family plan, sold separately and available later this year. The plan covering up to four people costs around £16 per month or £155 per year, while the extended family plan for eight people costs around £24 per month. The wearable is available for preorder for people aged 13 and up.
Luffu is also developing an intelligent home device, expected to be announced later this year, that allows families to coordinate care across the home.
