Dyson’s new Nurovi robot vacuums are taking direct aim at rivals like Shark, Roborock, Dreame and iRobot with a lineup built around UV stain detection and heated scrubbing. The three-model range introduces stain-cleaning technology similar to what appears on devices like the Shark UV Reveal, paired with more advanced AI recognition.
Dyson has long produced highly rated cordless vacuums, but its robot models have historically delivered inconsistent cleaning performance compared with leading competitors. The Nurovi series is designed to close that gap.
“Now we have shifted from purely mechanical devices to intelligent machines that can see, think and respond,” said Jake Dyson, chief engineer at Dyson, in a press statement. “We’re using artificial intelligence, vision systems and machine learning to allow the machines to understand the environment they are operating in.”
The R3 Nurovi Leads With UV and Heated Scrubbing
The EUR 1,032 R3 Nurovi Spot+Scrub UV tops the range and becomes available on Sept. 15. It combines UV light, AI vision and the green LED illumination found on Dyson’s cordless models to identify 200 different types of household substances and spills.
Once a spill is detected, Dyson says the vacuum uses a 12-point hydration system to apply 158-degree Fahrenheit water to a self-cleaning roller mop to scrub stains. The microfiber roller extends 1.6 inches toward the edges for wider coverage. The model also includes a 30,000-pascal motor, a self-emptying cyclonic bagless dustbin, and a self-cleaning dock consistent with other Spot+Scrub devices.
The R2 Nurovi Introduces a Triangle Mopping Design
Priced at EUR 602, the R2 Nurovi Wash+Dry sits in the middle of the lineup. Its standout feature is a redesigned Reuleaux triangle mopping pad, a departure from traditional circular spinning pads or the roller used on the R3. A Dyson representative said the triangular shape maintains a constant width and motion that lets the pads wash directly into square corners, an area circular pads often miss.
The R2 uses 167-degree Fahrenheit heated water to tackle tougher stains. A twin-capture system mechanically sweeps larger debris like a broom, reserving suction power for finer dust particles. It also includes an acoustic piezo sensor that adjusts suction based on floor type and dust levels. The R2 will be available Sept. 3 exclusively at Costco.
The R1 Nurovi Covers Dry Cleaning Only
The EUR 473 R1 Nurovi Dry is the most basic model in the range, handling dry cleaning for hard floors and carpet without the mopping and stain-detection capabilities of the higher-end units.
All three models were shown in action ahead of IFA Berlin 2026 in Dyson’s demo areas, which highlighted the vacuums’ ability to clean in tight spaces and avoid obstacles. The Nurovi lineup spans from EUR 473 to EUR 1,032, with availability beginning Sept. 3.
