The Corsair RM1000e (2026) ThermalProtect arrives with a single headline feature aimed squarely at one of the PC building community’s most persistent worries: melting graphics card connectors. Instead of a paper warning tucked into the manual, Corsair has engineered a hardware solution. Every 2026 RMe unit now ships with a ThermalProtect 12V-2×6 cable, a 600W cable with a temperature sensor built into the comb near the GPU end. If the connector runs too hot, the sensing hardware can shut the graphics card down before damage occurs.

Corsair has been building power supplies for close to two decades. The company began in California in 1994 making memory modules, later branching into cases, cooling, and peripherals before adding PSUs to its catalog. Today that catalog spans small SFX units up to 2000W flagships. Like most brands, Corsair commissions platforms from OEMs such as CWT, Seasonic, Great Wall, and HEC, though its engineers typically modify the core platform significantly to improve performance and reliability. The company also backs its units with a reputable RMA operation and warranty terms slightly better than the class would suggest.

Where the RMe Line Fits and What Changed for 2026

The RMe series is Corsair’s mainstream line, sitting below the RMx and well beneath the HXi and AXi units. It has seen several revisions since 2022. The 2026 version launched on August 18, and the temperature-sensing 12V-2×6 cable is its one significant update.

Efficiency claims have also shifted. Corsair has traditionally marketed the RMe series with a Gold badge, but the 2026 unit now appears to carry a Cybenetics Platinum rating. The box displays both the Platinum ETA badge and a LAMBDA A noise badge. Notably, there is no 80 PLUS logo anywhere on the packaging, a deliberate choice after Corsair announced it would rely solely on Cybenetics for certifications.

The RM1000e reviewed here is the larger of the two launch models. It carries a EUR 155 MSRP, a 7-year warranty, and a 1000W single-rail 12V output rated for a 50°C ambient temperature. The +12V rail delivers up to 83.3A, while the +3.3V and +5V rails are each rated at 150W, and the +5Vsb provides 15W. AC input covers 100 to 240 VAC at 50 to 60 Hz.

Packaging and Accessories

The box uses Corsair’s familiar yellow-and-black theme, with the modular panel photographed on the front and “with ThermalProtect” printed under the model name. The badge strip along the bottom lists Cybenetics Platinum, Cybenetics LAMBDA A, ATX 3.1 with PCIe 5.1 and 12V-2×6, and an Nvidia 50 Series Ready sticker.

Inside, the unit sits between protective packaging with cables bagged separately. The bundle is sparse: an AC cord, four mounting screws, a handful of zip ties, and a basic booklet. There are no Velcro straps, combs, or tester included, which stands out at the EUR 155
