The AMD Threadripper Halo Station made its debut at IFA 2026, and the company is billing it as “the most powerful workstation in the world.” Aimed at demanding AI development, the system pairs a flagship Threadripper processor with dual data-center accelerators in a tower form factor. According to AMD, the machine is capable of running trillion-parameter models locally.

At its core sits the Threadripper Pro 9995WX, a 96-core, 192-thread Zen 5 processor that boosts up to 5.4 GHz. The chip carries 384 MB of L3 cache and a 350W TDP. It supports an eight-channel memory configuration and speeds up to DDR5-6400, though AMD did not specify memory speed during its presentation. The full build includes 2TB of DDR5 memory, the maximum the platform supports.

Dual MI350P Accelerators Handle the AI Workload

The heavy lifting for AI tasks falls to two liquid-cooled Instinct MI350P accelerators. Each features 128 CDNA 4 compute units manufactured on TSMC’s N3 process, along with 144GB of HBM3E memory. That gives the system 288GB of HBM3E across both cards, with what AMD describes as “a path to four” accelerators. Adding two more would push total HBM3E capacity to 576GB.

Power requirements are significant. Each accelerator is rated for up to 600W, and both GPUs are liquid-cooled alongside the Threadripper host. While AMD says the design can scale to four accelerators, the unit shown at IFA had room for only two.

A Six-Figure Price Tag

AMD has not announced an official price or release date for the Threadripper Halo Station, but the component costs alone are steep. The Threadripper Pro 9995WX currently runs around EUR 9,465 to EUR 10,325 when available as a standalone chip. The MI350P accelerators are not sold through traditional consumer channels, but are estimated at roughly EUR 17,209 each. The 2TB of DDR5 memory adds about EUR 43,022 at current pricing.

Taken together, the core components alone, meaning the CPU, dual GPUs, and memory, should exceed EUR 86,044. Once storage, power delivery, and cooling are factored in, a fully configured system could climb past EUR 129,066.

The workstation is essentially a server tray reworked into a tower, swapping an EPYC host for the 96-core Threadripper. AMD shared few details beyond the specifications, and the design appears intended for the company’s OEM partners to build and ship. As of the IFA reveal, AMD has not named any partners supporting the machine.
