Apple CarPlay now supports a major weather app. Beginning today, The Weather Channel’s Storm Radar app for iPhone works with CarPlay, giving drivers detailed forecasts and radar imagery directly on their car’s dashboard display.
While CarPlay works with hundreds of apps, Apple’s own Weather app has never been among them. Storm Radar helps fill that gap, joining a growing selection of weather tools available on the platform.
What Storm Radar Brings to CarPlay
The CarPlay version of Storm Radar centers on a map of your location. Drivers can switch between satellite view and the default map background, while data layers include radar, clouds, and precipitation.
Navigation is a core part of the experience. The app displays your current weather conditions alongside your ETA and the weather expected at your destination. According to The Weather Channel, CarPlay support also includes automatic rerouting and weather alerts along your route that refresh as you drive.
A Bigger Push Across Apple Platforms
The Weather Channel has spent this year positioning Storm Radar as a first-class app across Apple’s ecosystem. Earlier in the year, the iPhone and iPad versions gained an AI-powered forecast feature, followed by a dedicated Apple Watch app.
Today’s update goes further by adding the CarPlay app. The same release also delivers new home screen widgets, a redesigned Apple Watch app, and additional improvements.
How to Get the Update
