SpaceXAI has entered the AI agent market this week with the launch of Grok Bot, a platform designed to operate as a team of autonomous AI agents capable of handling work tasks and entire projects. The company says the agents can message one another, hold group chats, share work and even answer to an AI supervisor.
Grok Bot was jointly developed by SpaceXAI and Cursor, an AI development company that SpaceX is acquiring for around £47 billion. It should not be confused with Grok, the AI chatbot that answers questions and generates images, videos and code. Grok Bot is instead built to assist teams with work-related projects.
How Grok Bot Works
Unlike AI assistants, which can perform single tasks such as booking a dinner reservation, AI agents work autonomously and proactively to execute projects from beginning to end. Deloitte estimates that 75% of companies plan to incorporate AI agent systems into their operations by 2028.
Customers can create one or more AI agents, each running on its own cloud-based computer rather than the customer’s device. The agents can access the apps, websites and email inboxes the customer designates, and will contact the customer only when an approval is required.
Users can message the agents by phone or computer to hand off a project or discuss an ongoing one. According to SpaceXAI, Grok Bot can remember conversations, learn how the customer likes tasks completed and improve the more it is used. The platform requires no set-up of workflows or routines; a customer simply messages a bot to take on a task.
What Grok Bot Can Do
SpaceXAI said its own employees have been using Grok Bot internally, where the bots have assisted with sales, recruiting, processing invoices and implementing bug fixes. The agents can work in concert, with each handling a separate operation such as email, expenses, recruiting, bug fixes and general operations. They can send messages to each other, pass work on when needed and assign ownership of tasks. Customers can also create an agent to act as a “chief of staff” to manage the others.
Agents can be trained by watching a customer’s workflow to learn the steps and processes involved. Once they have learned a routine, the agents can operate independently the next time without further explanation, and become more proactive over time, completing work before it is requested.
Availability
Grok Bot joins a growing field of AI agents that includes OpenClaw, Sai by Simular, Claude Computer Use, Manus, OpenAI Operator, NanoClaw and Hermes Agent, which vary in capability, security and complexity. Currently in beta, Grok Bot is available to subscribers of SuperGrok Heavy, Cursor Ultra and Cursor Teams Premium on desktop and iOS. Enterprise users can join a waitlist for future access.
