Slack Code is a new offering that lets teams vibe-code together with AI agents inside dedicated channels, rather than switching between separate tools and conversations. The launch introduces open, project-specific code channels with dedicated user tabs, alongside features that compare coding changes and preview HTML output before a project is shipped.
The idea is to keep the entire build process within a single space. When a team has an idea or needs to create a new feature, update a web page, or fix a bug, a member can tag in a coding agent such as Anthropic’s Claude or Cognition’s Devin. That agent then spins up a code channel to handle the task, giving everyone full visibility into the conversation.
How Slack Code channels work
Within each channel, participants can audit code diffs, view live previews of the agent’s output, provide feedback, and approve the work before it goes live. The coding channels are designed to archive themselves automatically once their dedicated assignment is complete, and they provide an audit log for recordkeeping.
Slack is positioning the feature as a straightforward way to work collaboratively with AI agents “like teammates”. It is a framing that echoes broader industry efforts to encourage people to treat automated agents as active collaborators rather than background tools.
Availability and supported agents
Slack Code is available from launch on any Slack plan. It works with the AI agents offered through Slack’s marketplace, extending the reach of the feature to a wide range of tools already used by development teams.
Slack has confirmed that agents from its founding partners will integrate seamlessly with code channels. Those founding partners include Claude Code, Devin, Vercel Agent, and GitHub Copilot. Each of these can be tagged directly within a channel to begin work on a task, with the resulting changes visible to the whole team throughout the process.
The launch reflects a growing push to bring software development activity into the same collaborative environments where teams already communicate. By combining conversation, code review, and live previews in one place, Slack Code aims to reduce the need to move between multiple applications during a build.
