Google AI Mode is expanding into travel planning, giving users new tools to track flight prices, book hotels, and view costs in points or miles. The company announced the updates on Thursday, signaling a broader push to turn its conversational search experience into a hands-on trip-planning assistant rather than a simple information tool.
The changes move AI Mode beyond surfacing search results toward directly handling parts of the booking process. Users can describe when and where they want to fly, and the tool returns the best available options with current pricing pulled from more than 300 airlines and travel sites.
Flight Tracking Across 180+ Countries
Once travelers find flights they like, they can build an itinerary directly in AI Mode. Those who prefer to wait for a better deal can ask the tool to monitor fares with a request such as “track these flight prices for me.” Google will then send an email alert whenever prices shift for the specified destination and dates.
Flight price tracking in AI Mode is now available in more than 180 countries, making it one of the most widely accessible features in the update.
Hotel Booking Rolls Out in the US
Hotel booking is also arriving in AI Mode. Users can describe an upcoming trip and their preferences to receive a list of options complete with reviews and key details. After selecting a hotel, they can ask AI Mode to help complete the reservation.
A “Continue on Google” option appears alongside integrated partners, including hotel chains and travel sites. From there, travelers can choose a room, review details such as the cancellation policy, and finish the transaction with Google Pay. Google notes that the hotel or booking platform manages the reservation and any related customer service.
Hotel booking has started rolling out in the U.S. in English and will expand over the coming weeks. Participating partners include Booking.com, Choice Hotels International, Expedia, Hilton, Hotels.com, IHG Hotels & Resorts, Marriott International, Priceline, Trip.com, and Wyndham Hotels & Resorts.
Booking With Points and Miles
AI Mode can now also display the cost of flights and hotels in points or miles. Travelers can enter a request such as wanting to fly from Atlanta to Miami using American Airlines miles, specifying nonstop flights departing October 9 and returning October 12. The tool then shows how many miles are needed to book matching flights.
The points and miles feature is available globally, while flight tracking reaches more than 180 countries and hotel booking is currently limited to English-language users in the United States.
